A little post about Mike…

I have something so fun to write about today. My dear husband Mike has been busy working on creating all kinds of goodies from marquees to lamps…and now a guitar amp/MP3 players out of old suitcases. For those of you who don’t know him personally let me give you a little back story on this guy. I met Mike almost 10 years ago when he was in a band and he swept me off my feet with his rock music and tattoos. Ha! Yes it was really THAT cheesy. We had that instant bond, we just “got” each other. He’s the sweetest man I know, and incredibly creative. So fast forward a bit…2 dogs, 1 cat, 2 kids and 3 houses later….eek! He found a passion with electricity and went to school for 5 years to become a union commercial wireman. I swear I’m not writing a resume, although it sounds like it…it’s all relevant. For the risk of getting to political I will leave my personal opinion of “the union” out of this post. So, to put it lightly they have the freedom to lay off workers when they run out of work. So…we have learned to adapt to an on and off work schedule, which can be tough in ways I can’t even describe. The number one being our spirit. With this recent lay off we decided as a family, a couple and individuals that we are in control of our own happiness. We would put our efforts into my business and our kiddos. And I must say, its been really fun this time around! I’ve seen my sweet husband so inspired and coming up with some super duper cool creations. I’m in awe of him and his upbeat attitude, drive and support to grow Ferpie and Fray. I’m without words to describe how proud I am of him. I’m one lucky gal. Now…onward to the works that amaze…. Oh and did I say he even created a Facebook page, you can check it out http://www.facebook.com/mikesmarquees. Here’s a little snidbit…

  1. i love your story. My husbands work is seasonal so in the slow months he always gets into creative mode. The design and creative process really saves him & me from going insane 😉 Your husband is very talented! Cant wait to see what else he comes up with.

    • Thank you so much, nice to know of more people in the same boat! It makes being off so much more enjoyable. He said to me joking the other day…”I’m thinking of just taking the summer off”. 😉
